Philip Henry Howard Surrey (Calgary, 8 octobre 1910 - Montréal, 7 mai 1990) fut un artiste peintre et un journaliste.
Biographie
La carrière de Philip Henry Howard Surrey commence alors qu'il n'a que 16 ans, engagé pour illustrer la revue de Winnipeg.
En 1926 il part pour étudier à l'École d’art de Winnipeg. Pendant 6 ans, il suit des cours d'art à l'école de Vancouver.
La peinture des paysages urbains et ses scènes de nuit sont la raison pour laquelle il est rendu si loin[Pourquoi ?].
Surrey a peint surtout à l'huile, à l’aquarelle, au pastel et plusieurs autres techniques, selon son sujet et sa composition.

Ses tableaux conjuguent de fines observations du réel à une ambiance surréelle. Sont très présentes les ombres...
