New York City Rap est le nom d'une tournée européenne (Paris, Berlin, Londres) organisée par la radio Europe 1 en 1982 et qui présentait pour la toute première fois à un public non-américain des graffiti-artists, des break-dancers, et des rappeurs. Y participaient : Phase 2, Dondi White, Futura 2000, Afrika Bambaataa, les Fearless 4, DST (art), le Rock Steady Crew et leur manager Kool Lady Blue, initiatrice du projet avec Bernard Zekri, journaliste au magazine Actuel. L'animation était assurée par Alain Maneval.
La « Grande nuit Rap » parisienne s'est déroulée à l'Hippodrome de la porte de Pantin le samedi 27 novembre 1982 à 20h00.
Cet évènement marque le véritable début de la culture Hip hop en France.
