Me and Bobby McGee" est une chanson écrite par Kris Kristofferson et Fred Foster, jouée pour la première fois par Roger Miller. La version la plus connue est celle de Janis Joplin.

Si certaines sources déclarent que Gordon Lightfoot a enregistré la chanson pour la première fois, Roger Miller a été le premier artiste a en faire un succès en 1969 . La chanson est sortie sur l'album Roger Miller 1970.

La version de Janis Joplin

Elle a été enregistrée quelques jours avant sa mort en octobre 1970. Elle est sortie sur l'album Pearl en 1971[1] Elle est devenue le second succès posthume de l'histoire du rock après "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" de Otis Redding.

Dans la version originale de la chanson, Bobby est une femme ; Janis Joplin, qui était amoureuse de Kristofferson du commencement de sa carrière à sa mort, a changé certaines paroles de la chanson.
