L'American Eskimo Dog est une race de chien de compagnie et de traîneau originaire des États-Unis. En plus d'être un compagnon, il est aussi utilisé comme chien de garde.
Il a atteint un haut degré de popularité dans les années 1930 et 1940 aux États-Unis.
Le Kennel Club Américain reconnaît la race depuis 1994 et a fixé le standard actuel cependant le United Kennel Club a reconnu la race avant le Kennel Club Américain et il n'ya pas de différences de standard mis en place par les deux Kennels, l'American Eskimo Dog a été reconnu comme chien de race dans le Kennel Club Canadien (CKC) depuis mars 2006;
Histoire
L'American Eskimo Dog résulte de croisements entre le Spitz allemand, le Spitz japonais et le Keeshond en Amérique.
