Kate Barry est une photographe britannique[1] née le 8 avril 1967.
Biographie
Elle est la fille de la chanteuse et comédienne Jane Birkin et du compositeur John Barry, à qui l'on doit les musiques de James Bond, Amicalement vôtre ou encore Out of Africa. Étant de la même mère, elle est la demi-sœur de la comédienne et chanteuse Charlotte Gainsbourg et de la comédienne et mannequin Lou Doillon. Ses parents se séparent l'année de sa naissance et elle sera élevée par Serge Gainsbourg. Elle a un fils, Roman de Kermadec, né en 1987.
Son travail
C'est à 28 ans que Kate Barry se lance dans une carrière de photographe. Sa première exposition a lieu à la Bunkamura Gallery de Tokyo en 2000. Suivent une exposition intitulée Portraits-Paysages à la galerie Léo Scheer de Paris en 2005 puis, en 2006, dans la Basilique de Sant'Alessandra à Fiesole en Italie. Elle collabore à divers magazines et revues de mode comme Vogue, Vanity Fair ou Elle.
Dans ses portraits, Kate Barry parvient à faire ressortir la détresse de ses modèles, leur fragilité.
