Yo Majesty
Yo Majesty est un groupe de hip-hop américain formé en 2000 à Tampa en Floride[1]. Constitué de la rappeuse Shunda K et de la chanteuse Jwl B, le groupe est produit par le groupe electro britannique HardfeelingsUK[2].
Leur son est un hybride de crunk, de son de club de Baltimore et d'electro[3],[4],[5]. On les a également rapprochées du mouvement punk pour leur défiance envers les labels de musique et leurs innovations stylistiques[6]
Yo Majesty apparaît dans le classement des '11 meilleurs groupes de 2008' et celui des '25 groupes les plus excitants en Amérique' par le magazine NME[7][8].
Selon certains critiques, le groupe est un pied de nez au cliché du machiste chauviniste dominant dans la scène hip-hop[1].
