Althorn

Althorn est un écart de la commune française de Goetzenbruck, dans le département de la Moselle.

Histoire

L'annexe de Althorn est construite sur l'emplacement de l'ancien village de Horn. Horone est cité en 873 comme village de l'abbaye de Wissembourg, et détruit pendant la Guerre de Trente Ans en 1633.

Le nouveau village commence à se repeupler petit à petit un siècle plus tard. Quelques baraques, groupées autour d'une vieille chapelle prennent le nom d'Althorn, en souvenir de l'ancien village. En 1732, il n'y a encore que quatre habitations. Mais le village se développe grâce à la verrerie de Goetzenbruck et aux fonderies de Mouterhouse qui y établissent des mines qui doivent être abandonnées plus tard, à cause de la pauvreté du minerai.

Église Saint-Chrodegang

Althorn devient succursale de Goetzenbruck en 1802 et est érigé en paroisse en 1872. L'église est construite en 1841. L'édifice est inscrit à l'inventaire topographique de la région Lorraine.
