Joseph Schwarcz

Joseph Schwarcz est un chimiste, un professeur et un chroniqueur scientifique québécois (Canada). Connu pour ses efforts de vulgarisation, il est surnommé Dr. Joe par le public canadien.

D'origine hongroise, il a obtenu un doctorat en chimie. Il enseigne à l'Université McGill depuis plusieurs années. Schwarcz enseignait auparavant au Collège Vanier.

Présent dans les médias, il a sa propre émission de radio à CJAD et à CFRB, son segment d'émission de télévision sur Discovery Channel Canada et sa chronique chimique dans le Montreal Gazette.

Ses intérêts portent sur l'application de la chimie dans la vie de tous les jours. Il s'attaque aux pseudo-sciences, aimant défaire les affirmations du magicien Uri Geller.

Auteur de plusieurs ouvrages, il a été honoré pour ses efforts de vulgarisation; il reçoit en 1994 le Prix Michael-Smith pour la promotion des sciences du gouvernement canadien.
