John Rutsey (14 mai 1953 – 11 mai 2008) a été le premier batteur du groupe de rock canadien Rush. Atteint de diabète, il quitta le groupe après la sortie du premier album nommé Rush en 1974. Il est décédé le 11 mai 2008 .Certains disent qu'il est mort d'un arrêt cardiaque durant son sommeil[réf. nécessaire], mais selon la famille du musicien, il serait plutôt mort suite à des complications de son diabète.
