Jani Bäckman est un footballeur finlandais né le 20 mars 1988 en Finlande. Cet attaquant mesure 1,80 m pour 73 kg.

Au mois de février 2008, il quitte l'un de ses 2 clubs formateurs, le HJK Helsinki avec lequel il a débuté sa carrière professionnelle et signe un contrat de 2 ans avec le FC Honka[1], le montant du transfert s'élevant à 200 000 €[2].
