Une instruction est une forme d'information communiquée qui est à la fois une commande et une explication pour décrire l'action, le comportement, la méthode ou la tâche qui devra commencer, se terminer, être conduit, ou exécuté.
Éducation
En éducation, l'instruction désigne tout à la fois :
- le contenu des savoirs élémentaires ;
- le fait d'enseigner ;
- le fait de se soumettre à cet enseignement.
Informatique
Une instruction machine se réfère à une opération simple d'un processeur dans une architecture d'ordinateur.
Dans un programme informatique une instruction est un mot signifiant dans un langage de programmation (BASIC, COBOL...)
Droit
- L'instruction est l'étape d'une enquête criminelle qui précède le jugement et qui est menée par le juge d'instruction.
- Le pouvoir d'instruction est le pouvoir hiérarchique.
- Une instruction de service est une mesure adressée par un chef de service à ses subordonnées (voir mesure d'ordre intérieur et circulaire) afin qu'elle soit suivie d'une exécution.
