- En gestion de projet, l'estimation consiste à évaluer par prédiction les coûts et délais des tâches qui constituent un projet, à partir d'estimations d'autres grandeurs comme la taille, la puissance ou la capacité. Le terme estimation décrit aussi bien la fonction, l'opération, que le résultat.
- Une estimation consiste également à évaluer (attribuer une valeur) quelque chose d'existant (estimation d'un bien ou d'un préjudice par exemple).
