Ida Minerva Tarbell, née le 5 novembre 1857 et morte le 6 janvier 1944, est une pédagogue, femme de lettres et journaliste américaine. Grande figure du journalisme d'enquête de l’ère progressiste, elle rédigea de nombreux articles et des biographies pour la presse écrite. L’ouvrage qui la rendit célèbre, L’Histoire de la Standard Oil Company, parut en 1904 et figurait encore au cinquième rang en 1999 dans la liste publiée par le New York Times des cent ouvrages les plus marquants du journalisme du XXe siècle[1].
