Ibn El Mawla est un poète Andalou réfugié en Algérie. Il introduit la poésie andalouse du Zadjal à Constantine, après avoir échoué à Collo.
Le Zadjal comme poésie et non en tant que musique chantée n’existe nulle part ailleurs qu'à Constantine. En effet, après le naufrage du navire à Collo, à ce moment-là, le souk de la ville était visité par des commerçants Constantinois qui avaient emmené avec eux un grand nombre de Sf’ina de Z’djoul (pluriel de Zadjal) en possession de l’équipage du navire.
A son arrivée au port de Collo, Ibn El Mawla écrit alors le récit de son naufrage dans le Zadjal suivant:
