Hauteur manométrique totale
La hauteur manométrique totale d'une pompe, ou HMT, est la différence de pression du liquide la franchissant. On utilise généralement ce terme lorsque le liquide pompé est de l'eau.
Unité
Plutôt que d'exprimer cette valeur en Pascal ou en bar, unités classiques de pression, cette valeur est généralement donnée en mètre d'eau équivalent (m). En réalité, la HMT est bien une mesure de pression différentielle, mais on l'exprime par l'équivalent que représente une hauteur de 1 mètre d'eau aux conditions normales de température et de pression. La conversion est la suivante: 1 bar correspond à environ 10,33 mètres d'eau. Ou inversement, 1 m d'eau équivaut à 96,8 mbar environ.
Calcul
Lorsqu'une pompe est associée à une canalisation, la HMT est l'addition[1] de :
- la hauteur géométrique (différence d'altitude entre la pompe et la sortie du liquide à l'atmosphère)
- les pertes de charges, elles-mêmes composées des pertes de charges régulières et singulières.
