Gramercy

Gramercy

Gramercy est un quartier de Manhattan, à New York, situé à proximité du Gramercy Park. Ce dernier est un parc privé, situé entre la 20e rue est et la 21e rue est, à proximité de Lexington Avenue.

Le nom de quartier provient lui même d'un ruisseau qui coulait dans le quartier avec une forme de “petit couteau tordu”, ce qui se disait Crom messie en hollandais. Le quartier est grossièrement situé dans un espace compris entre la 14e rue, la Première Avenue, la 30e rue, et Broadway. Cependant, pour certains, le quartier est délimité au nord par la 23e rue, alors que la portion stuée entre la 23e rue et la 30e rue correspond au quartier de Rose Hill. Les quartiers adjacents à Gramercy sont Murray Hill au nord, le Flatiron District et Union Square au sud, et l'East Village à l'est.
