Graduate school

Aux États-Unis et au Canada, une école des gradués (en anglais graduate school), également connue au Québec sous les noms de « faculté des études supérieures » ou encore de « direction des hautes études », est une composante d'une université s'occupant de l'administration des études destinées à des étudiants déjà diplômés, ayant généralement obtenu un baccalauréat après généralement 4 ans d'études supérieures. Ce second cycle d'études est appelé en français du Québec « études supérieures », « cycles supérieurs », ou encore « hautes études » et en anglais graduate studies, (littéralement : « études pour gradués ») .

Deux types de grades peuvent être préparés, grades par l'enseignement (taught degree) (ex: Master of Science, MSc (12 mois), Diploma ou Certificate (9 ou 6 mois), comportant le suivi de cours et la rédaction d'un mémoire) ou grades par la recherche (ex: Master of Philosophy, MPhi; Doctor of Philosophy, PhD).

Graduate school, ou graduate studies, s'oppose au cycle undergraduate.
