Synopsis

Durant la première Guerre mondiale, deux amis australiens s'engagent pour aller combattre. Ils se retrouvent à Gallipoli, en Turquie, et y découvrent les horreurs de la guerre.

Mel Gibson y tient l'un des deux rôles principaux. Une histoire d'amitié et les expériences du Corps d'armée australien et néo-zélandais (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, populairement appelé ANZAC), sur fond de paysages australiens, de pyramides d'Égypte et en Turquie.
