Against the Grain, paru en 1975, est le septième album de Rory Gallagher (le cinquième en studio).
L'album
A l'exception de trois titres, toutes les compositions sont de Rory Gallagher.
Against the Grain est le premier album pour sa nouvelle maison de disques Chrysalis.
Buddah Records a réédité l'album en 1999 avec deux bonus tracks.

- I Take What I Want est un morceau d'Isaac Hayes et Mabon Hodges écrit pour Sam & Dave (single sorti en 1965).
- All Around Man est une reprise de Bo Carter (1937).
- Out on the Western Plains est une reprise de Leadbelly (1944) dont le titre original est When the Boys Were Out on the Western Plains.
