Edinburgh of the Seven Seas
Edinburgh of the Seven Seas (Édimbourg des sept mers) est l'unique ville de l'île Tristan Da Cunha, qui compte environ 295 habitants. Localement, elle est appelée de son nom originel, The Settlement (la colonie).
The Settlement est fondé en 1815. Elle est le site d'une garnison militaire jusqu'à la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
La ville est renommée en l'honneur d'Alfred, le duc d'Édimbourg lors de son passage dans l'île en 1867 au cours de son tour du monde comme commandant du HMS Galatea[1].
Edinburgh possède un port, la résidence de l'Administrateur et le bureau de poste. Elle est abandonnée par une grande partie de sa population et en partie détruite lors l'éruption volcanique de 1961. La population revient en 1963.
