Daria Halprin, née le 30 décembre 1947 à San Francisco, est aujourd'hui une psychologue américaine spécialisée en art-thérapie après avoir mené une brève carrière d'actrice.
Biographie
Daria Halprin étudie la danse et l'anthropologie à l'université, mais après avoir tourné un premier film documentaire en 1968, elle abandonne ses études pour jouer dans Zabriskie Point, le deuxième film américain de Michelangelo Antonioni, dans lequel elle partage la vedette avec Mark Frechette. Après le tournage, elle rejoint avec Frechette La famille, une secte communautaire dirigée par le musicien Mel Lyman. Elle quitte très vite ce groupe[1].
En 1972, elle se marie avec l'acteur Dennis Hopper dont elle divorce en 1976. Le couple a un enfant. Cette année-là, elle tourne également son dernier film, The Jerusalem File.
En 1978, elle fonde avec sa mère Anna Halprin, danseuse et chorégraphe, un institut d'art-thérapie basé sur l'expression corporelle, la danse et les arts visuels. Elle a publié depuis un ouvrage et plusieurs articles sur sa pratique thérapeutique. Elle enseigne l'art-thérapie à la Lesley University (université privée du Massachusetts).
