DeAndre Cortez Way, mieux connu sous le nom de Soulja Boy Tellem, ou simplement Soulja Boy, est né le 28 juillet 1990 à Chicago dans l'Illinois. En septembre 2007, son single Crank That est un succès international.

A Fin 2008, il sort un troisième album appelé iSouljaBoyTellem, dont le single Kiss Me Thru The Phone en featuring avec Sammie qui remporte un vif succès.

Un quatrième album, The DeAndre Way, est actuellement en préparation et devrait sortir en 2009. Un prelsmier single, Pow, est déjà disponible sur Internet.

En mai 2009, Soulja Boy revendiquait sur son site internet plus de 400 millions de vues sur le site de vidéos [[

Le crank est une chorégraphie accompagnant la chanson Crank That, essentiellement basée sur des mouvements de jambes et des claquements de doigts. Cette chorégraphie, visible dans le clip de Crank That, a créé un phénomène sur Internet.
