La Computed Radiography, communément dénommée CR, en particulier dans les pays francophones, est une modalité de la radiologie digitale.
Il existe de nombreuses modalités en radiologie digitale. Le principe du CR est de marquer un Écran radioluminescent à mémoire (plaque ou support phosphore généralement contenu dans une cassette) avec l'image des rayons X et d'ensuite scanner ce support dans un appareil dédicacé. La plaque phosphore est ensuite fortement éclairée de manière à en effacer la marque de l'image et elle peut être immédiatement réutilisée. L'ensemble de la procédure prend de 1 à 2 minutes.
Dans le contexte de la radiologie digitale, le concept présente l'avantage d'être immédiatement transposable sur les systèmes de radiologie classiques en ce sens que la cassette CR se présente sous les mêmes dimensions mécaniques que la cassette à film traditionnelle et que son emploi peut se faire en conservant la source de rayons X et l'ensemble de l'appareillage radiologie. Par rapport au DR, son prix est nettement plus attractif mais la qualité d'image est généralement supérieure pour les systèmes DR qui présentent également l'avantage de fournir une image après une période de l'ordre de 10 secondes et qui ne nécessitent aucune manipulation.
