Colonial Conquest est un jeu vidéo de stratégie au tour par tour développé par Strategic Simulations, Inc. et édité par Andromeda Software en 1985 sur Commodore 64 et Atari 800XL. Il a été porté en 1987 sur PC, Apple II, Commodore 64 et Atari ST.
Système de jeu
Basé sur le principe de Risk (sans le hasard du lancer de dés), Colonial Conquest met en jeu des armées qui doivent prendre le contrôle de parties du monde.
Le jeu correspond au contexte historique du partage de l'Afrique et une partie commence en l'an 1880.
Le joueur doit sélectionner une des six grandes puissances de l'époque :
- Angleterre
- Allemagne
- France
- États-Unis
- Japon
- Russie
Chaque pays est avantagé/désavantagé en fonction de la valeur de ses forces terrestres ou maritimes, ainsi que sur le coût de celles-ci : ainsi la Russie dépensera trois fois moins d'argent pour l'enrôlement de ses troupes terrestres que l'Angleterre mais en contrepartie la valeur offensive et défensive Russes sera largement inférieure à celle de ses homologues Britanniques.
Trois scénarios sont disponibles :
- Jeu standard (les grandes puissances ne disposent que de leur territoire national)
- 1880 (début de la colonisation à grande échelle)
- 1914 (les forces de la triple entente et de la triple alliance s'affrontent)
