Accueil par la critique

A Mouthful a atteint le hit-parade français dès la semaine de sa sortie[1].

Pitchfork Media a donné à l'album une note de 7,5 sur 10, notant que « [A Mouthful] essaie de balancer entre le mature et l'immature » (« [A Mouthful] tries to balance the mature and the immature ») et que « [Olivia B. Merilahti et Dan Levy] n'hésitent pas à jouer avec les styles musicaux (...) ce qui compense avec les inclusions moins-que-conseillées » (« [Olivia B. Merilahti and Dan Levy] aren't shy about toying with musical categories (...) which compensates for the less-than-advisable inclusions »).

En revanche, le magazine a critiqué l'importante quantité de « déchet »[2].

L'album a été nommé au Prix Constantin.
