Action contre la faim (ACF) est une organisation non gouvernementale internationale, créée en 1979 sous le nom d'Action internationale contre la faim (AICF) par entre autres Guy Sorman, actuellement président d'honneur.

Missions

Elle a pour mission de lutter contre la faim dans le monde. Son action s'étend des problèmes de nutrition et de sécurité alimentaire jusqu'aux domaines de la santé et de l'accès à l'eau potable.

À l'origine créée pour répondre aux situations d'urgence telles que les guerres, la sécheresse et les catastrophes naturelles, ACF élargit aujourd'hui son action vers des missions d'anticipation et de transfert des compétences pour permettre à terme l'autonomie du pays ou de la zone géographique.

Le siège social d'ACF est à Paris mais l'ONG est aussi présente à Londres, à Madrid, à New York et à Montréal. Le président actuel est Denis Metzger qui succède à l'écrivain et médecin Jean-Christophe Rufin.

Actions

288 volontaires ainsi que 3 200 employés locaux sont en permanence sur le terrain pour sortir de la souffrance des millions de personnes touchées par la famine ou la maladie liée à un problème de malnutrition.

Pour promouvoir son action auprès du public et lui permettre de faire appel au don en confiance, l’association adhère au Comité de la Charte.
