Le projet 2 de l’association de 3e génération (abrégée 3GPP2, de l’anglais « 3rd Generation Partnership Project 2 ») est un accord de collaboration établi en décembre 1998, entre ARIB/TTC (en) (la société japonaise radio-industrielle et des entreprises), CCSA (Chine), (en) TIA[Quoi ?] (Amérique du Nord) et TTA(Corée du Sud).
La portée de 3GPP2 est de faire des spécifications de système globalement applicables de téléphone portable du troisième génération (3G) dans la portée du projet de l’IMT-2000 de l’UIT. Dans la pratique, 3GPP2 est le groupe d’étalonnage pour CDMA 2000, l’ensemble de normes 3G basées sur une technologie plus tôt de 2G CDMA.
Notez que 3GPP2 est différent de 3GPP, lequel spécifie les standards pour une autre technologie connue sous le nom de W-CDMA (UMTS).
