3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) est une coopération entre organismes de standardisation régionaux en Télécommunications tels l’ETSI (Europe), ARIB/TTC (Japon), CCSA (Chine), ATIS (Amérique du Nord) et TTA (Corée du Sud), visant à produire des spécifications techniques pour les réseaux mobiles de 3e génération (3G).
3GPP assure par ailleurs la maintenance et le développement de spécifications techniques pour les normes mobiles GSM, notamment pour le GPRS et l’EDGE.
3GPP PSS (packet switched streaming) est la partie de la norme (à partir de la version 5) qui traite des services audio/vidéo, dont la télévision, sur réseaux mobiles.
3GPP iMB (integrated mobile broadcast) est la partie de la norme (à partir de la version 8) qui traite de la diffusion de la télévision sur les cellules radio des services mobiles 3G.
