Les Boo Berry sont une variété de céréales de petit-déjeuner à haut taux de sucre. Elles sont fabriquées par General Mills et sont constituées de céréales de maïs à saveur de bleuet et de guimauves. La mascotte de la céréale, un monstre bleu avec un nœud-papillon rouge et un chapeau jaune à bande rouge se nomme Boo Berry et est personnifiée par Peter Lorre.
Céréales dans les années 1970
En 1971, deux sortes de céréales ont été mises en marché par General Mills: Count Chocula et Franken Berry. Les Boo Berry ont été lancées deux ans plus tard, en 1973, et les Fruit Brute ont suivi en 1974. Cette dernière a été retirée du marché en 1983 en raison de ses ventes trop faibles. Elles ont été remplacées en 1988 par les Yummy Mummy, mais celles-ci ont subi le même sort en 1993, pour la même raison que les Fruit Brute. Les Boo Berry et les Franken Berry sont souvent perçues comme étant discontinées, mais il n'en est rien. Il s'agit simplement d'une production moins élevée et d'une distribution plus sporadique. En effet, les céréales sont surtout disponibles dans le temps de l'Halloween dans les Wal-Mart et les Target, notamment. De plus, elles sont disponibles toute l'année dans les Super Wal-Mart du centre-ouest américain et en ligne via Amazon.com, par exemple.
