Bongzilla est un groupe mélangeant le doom metal et le stoner rock (ce genre est aussi appelé sludge metal), formé en 1995, dans le Wisconsin. Comme leur nom l'indique, une grande partie (sinon la totalité) de leur œuvre traite de la drogue, plus spécialement du cannabis. En 1998, ils signent avec Relapse Records, et ont depuis sorti quatre albums studio ainsi qu'un album live.
