Pikunis
Les Blackfeet ou Piegan, qui se désignent eux-mêmes par le nom de Pikunis, sont une tribu amérindienne blackfoot qui vit actuellement au sein de la Nation Blackfoot, dans le nord-ouest du Montana. La population est concentrée dans la ville de Browning.
Bien qu'il pratiquaient un peu l'agriculture, les Pikunis étaient partiellement nomades. Ils se déplacèrent vers l'ouest en partie à cause de l'introduction des chevaux et des fusils, et adoptèrent la culture des Indiens des Grandes Plaines au début des années 1900. À l'époque, on estimait la population pikuni à environ 20 000, alors qu'aujourd'hui ils sont environ 25 000. La population était parfois bien moins nombreuse, car les Pikuni souffraient de la maladie, de la famine et de la guerre. Leur territoire s'étendait sur une grande partie de l'Alberta et du Montana, alors qu'aujourd'hui la réserve pikuni a la taille du Delaware, et les trois réserves en Alberta sont plus petites.
