Wea est le nom d'une tribu amérindienne qui vécu très longtemps entre la haute vallée de l'Ohio et le sud des Grands Lacs.
Les Wea forment un peuple amérindien apparenté à la tribu des Miamis qui avait deux de ses principales communautés non loin du fort à Lafayette et Terre Haute.
La langue des Wea est apparentée aux langues algonquiennes.
Au XVIIIesiècle, les Français entrèrent en contact avec la tribu Wea. Ils construisirent un fort qu'ils nommèent Fort Ouiatenon, du nom Ouiatenon qui désigne en Langues algonquiennes le territoire de la tribu des Wea.
