Virus Zika

Le virus Zika (Zika virus en anglais, ZIKV) est un flavivirus membre de la famille des Flaviviridae. Il est généralement transmis à l'être humain par les maringouins[1]. Limité longtemps à l'Afrique et à l'Asie, le virus a été recensé sur l'île de Yap en 2007[1].

Ce virus a été isolé pour la première fois en 1947 chez un macaque rhésus de la forêt Zika, en Ouganda. Il est isolé pour la première fois chez l'homme en 1968 au Nigeria[2].

Structure

Le virus Zika est entouré d'un acide ribonucléique sous forme d'icosaèdre.

De manière semblable à d'autres virus de cette famille, le virus Zika est entouré d'un acide ribonucléique non-segmenté de forme icosaédrale.

Transmission

En avril 2011, une étude publiée par Emerging Infectious Diseases (en) présente un cas de virus Zika transmis sexuellement par un homme à sa femme à la suite d'un voyage de ce dernier au Sénégal, où il a contracté le virus par piqûre d'insecte[3],[4].
