Les Virus-Like-Particles (= VLP) sont des particules virales sans génome (= pseudo-virions) obtenus par l'assemblage spontané de protéines de la capside d'un virus.
Il est obtenu par expression des gènes correspondants dans des levures recombinantes ou par l'intermédiaire d'un baculovirus recombinant en cellules d'insecte. Ces vaccins sont efficaces pour induire des anticorps (→ immunité humorale), mais n'induisent pas d'immunité cellulaire.
Inconvénients : Production lourde et coûteuse.
