The Tick est une personnage de fiction créé en 1986 par le dessinateur Ben Edlund afin d'être la nouvelle mascotte pour le magasin New England Comics de Boston. Il incarne une satire surréaliste des super-héros de comics. En 1987, une série de comics indépendants avec The Tick pour héros vit le jour. Il acquit sa véritable notoriété au travers une série animée diffusée par Fox Broadcasting Company en 1994. Plus tard, le personnage fut repris pour une série télévisée, un jeu vidéo, ainsi que de nombreux autres produits dérivés. Il s'agit d'un homme portant le déguisement d'une tique.
