Jailbreak
Dans le monde du Jailbreak, le SpringBoard peut être personnalisé à l'aide de divers thèmes disponibles sur Cydia. L'activation de ces présumés thèmes nécessitent toutefois l'installation du programme Winterboard, lui aussi disponible sur Cydia.
Il peut également être personnalisé à l'aide d'extensions (tweaks) qui permettent par exemple d'obtenir un effet différent que celui disponible par défaut lors du passage d'une page à une autre.
Réutilisation dans Mac OS 10.7 (Lion)
Mac OS X v10.7 inclus une nouvelle fonctionnalité nommé « Launchpad ». S'inspirant grandement du SpringBoard d'iOS, il permet l'affichage d'applications comme dans iOS, de même pour les fichiers. Il n'est cependant pas destiné a être un écran d'accueil.
