Le terme spare désigne plusieurs espèces de poissons de bonne qualité gustative, de la famille des sparidés, hormis Boridia grossidens. Les genres Chrysoblephus, Cymatoceps, Porcostoma, Pterogymnus, Sparidentex, Sparodon et Stenotomus sont exclusivement consitués de spares.
