La Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) est un organisme professionnel anglais dont la mission est de de réglementer et de promouvoir la profession immobilière, de maintenir un niveau d’excellence et de professionnalisme de ces membres par une formation continue, de protéger les clients et les consommateurs grâce à un strict code de déontologie (les 12 principes de la RICS) et de fournir des conseils, des analyses et une assistance impartiaux.
La RICS a été fondée à Londres en 1868 et a obtenu une charte royale de la Reine Victoria en 1881.
Les membres de la RICS sont environ 110 000 dans le monde dont 800 en France. La RICS France a été créée en 1991.
Les membres de la RICS sont appelés des Chartered Surveyors et détiennent soit le titre de Members (MRICS), soit, plus rarement, celui de Fellows (ou FRICS) : dans le monde anglo-saxon, il est d’usage que les membres de la RICS ajoutent donc les sigles RICS ou FRICS sur leur carte de visite.
Le siège
Le siège de la RICS est à Londres au 12 Great Georges Street. Il s’agit du seul immeuble privé de Parliament Square.
