Les Nocturnes opus 9 au nombre de trois, sont dédiés à Marie Pleyel, pianiste et femme de Camille Pleyel éditeur. Composés en 1830-31, ils sont publiés à Leipzig en 1832, à Londres chez Wessel et à Paris chez Schlesinger en 1833.
Nocturne opus 9 nº 1 en si bémol mineur
Sur un tempo larghetto l'accompagnement en figures arpégées renvoie aux Nocturnes de John Field que Chopin appréciait particulièrement et dont il reprit le schéma formel, une large ligne mélodique dans le style du bel canto accompagnée de grands accords arpégés à la main gauche.

Allegretto à 6/8.
