Matthew Ray Shultz, né le 23 octobre 1983, est un musicien américain. Il est le chanteur du groupe Cage The Elephant originaire de Bowling Green, au Kentucky. Il est connu pour son énergie durant les concerts.

Matt Shultz a été élevé à Bowling Green, au Kentucky, avec son frère Brad Shultz (guitariste rythmique), et les autres membres du groupe, Daniel Tichenor (bassiste, chœurs), Lincoln Parish (guitariste soliste), et Jared Champion (batteur, percussionniste).

En partie à cause des croyances religieuses de leurs parents, Matt, Brad et Daniel ont découvert la musique rock environ à douze ans. Shultz a travaillé comme plombier et prétend qu'un de ses collègues qui était dealer justifiait son travail d'appoint en disant: "there ain't no rest for the wicked" (Il n'y a pas de repos pour les méchants). Il a également déclaré qu'il était toxicoman dans le passé avec la méthadone, mais est clean depuis.
