Italia independent est une marque de prêt-à-porter de luxe créee par l'héritier de la famille fiat Lapo Elkann en 2007[1].

Lapo Elkann (né le 7 octobre 1977) est un industriel italien, héritier de Fiat (petit-fils de Giovanni Agnelli (1921-2003) et arrière-arrière-petit-fils du fondateur de Fiat Giovanni Agnelli (1866-1945)). En 2003, il est nommé responsable des opérations de marketing et prend la responsabilité de la promotion de l'image de Fiat. Il fonde la marque Italia Independent de prêt-à-porter et accessoires de luxe dépourvus de logo. Il fut à son tour classé parmi les hommes les plus élégants du monde en 2009, toujours par Vanity Fair[2].
Le style de la marque.
Le style de la marque est inspiré par l'industrie automobile, il a revu la mode avec des innovations en matière de créativité et de matériaux comme le kevlar ou la fibre de carbone. Il a réinventé le costume trois pièces et le borsalino alliant originalité, dynamisme et créativité[3], et créé une collection d'objets de décoration design.
