Herbert de Bosham (né à Bosham en Sussex, Angleterre et mort en 1186) est un cardinal anglais du XIIe siècle. Son père est ordonné prêtre après la naissance d'Herbert.
Biographie
Herbert est un disciple d'André de Saint-Victor. Il est hébraïsant, théologien, philosophe, poète et orateur. Herbert entre en service de Thomas Beckett. Il devient son clerc et chancelier et reste son supporteur le plus fidèle. Après le mort de Beckett, Herbert est chassé d'Angleterre par le roi Henri II et il va à Rome. Le pape Alexandre III le crée cardinal lors du consistoire de décembre 1178. En 1179 il est élu archevêque de Bénévent, mais refuse la promotion.
Le cardinal Herbert de Bosham participe à l'élection de Lucius III en 1181, mais ne participe pas à l'élection d'Urbain III en 1185. Il est l'auteur d'une biographie de Thomas Becket entre 1184 et 1186, et d'un Liber Melorum, en honneur de l'archevêque-martyr.
