HOAX est un groupe de hard-core metal qui sévit de 1991 à 1998.
Il devint le fer de lance du style en trois albums et de nombreuses tournées en Europe[réf. nécessaire] et une référence pour la nouvelle vague métal française des 90's.
Un premier album en 1991 : "Ego Eater" chez Musidisc, aux compos rapides et trash . Puis un changement de batteur et chanteur, pour deux opus plus "indus et groove" sur le label Abatrash[1] : "Pressure" en 1994[2], et "Brainstorm at dawn"en 1995[3] au son maitrisé par André Guilaine ( haut-regard studio à Liège ) qui deviendra une référence du gros son dans les années suivantes.
Des prestations scéniques furieuses, intenses et puissantes, une éthique issue du DIY, et un style visuel personnel et affirmé, ont permis à HOAX de partager l'affiche avec les meilleurs groupes du moment comme Mucky pup, MOD ou encore Motorhead pour une tournée commune de 6 dates[réf. souhaitée]. HOAX sera invité à participer au premier film de Laurent Bouhnik : "Select hotel" ainsi qu'à différentes émissions TV comme Le cercle de minuit ou Nulle part ailleurs.
Le groupe n'est plus actif depuis 1998[4].
