Edward & Mrs. Simpson est une mini-série britannique en sept épisodes qui met en scène les événements qui ont conduit le roi Édouard VIII du Royaume-Uni à renoncer au trône en 1936. Comme son nom l'indique, la série est centrée sur la relation amoureuse du souverain avec la divorcée américaine Wallis Simpson.
Créée par Thames Television pour la chaîne britannique ITV, Edward & Mrs. Simpson est diffusée pour la première fois en 1978. Son scénario, écrit par Simon Raven, est basé sur la biographie d'Édouard VIII par Frances Donaldson. La série, produite par Verity Lambert, est dirigée par Waris Hussein ; sa musique est composée par Ron Grainer. Parmi les personnages principaux, Edward Fox joue le rôle du monarque Édouard VIII tandis que Cynthia Harris incarne Mrs. Simpson.
En 1979, Edward & Mrs. Simpson remporte un BAFTA Award du meilleur acteur, du meilleur design, du meilleur costume et de la meilleure série. En 1980, elle remporte l'Emmy award de l'« Outstanding Limited Series ».
La série a été commercialisée en DVD au Royaume-Uni par Network et aux États-Unis par A&E.
