Blanche Calloway (1902-1978) est une chanteuse de jazz et chef d'orchestre américaine, né et décédée à Baltimore.
Carrière
Blanche Calloway est la sœur aînée de Cab Calloway. Elle commence à chanter dans les années 1920, dans divers orchestres, le plus connu étant celui d'Andy Kirk.
En 1931, elle décide de créer et de diriger son propre orchestre de jazz, dont le nom, « Blanche Calloway and Her Joy Boys », rappelle celui d'« Andy Kirk and His Clouds of Joy ». Elle enregistre pour RCA, mais en 1938, l'orchestre fait faillite et doit s'arrêter. Elle continue un temps une carrière solo.
Après avoir travaillé dans les années 1960, pour une station de radio en Floride, elle revient finir ses jours dans sa ville natale.
