Bernard This est un obstétricien et psychanalyste français, né à Longuyon (Meurthe et Moselle) le 14 avril 1928.

Bernard This a fait ses études de médecine à Nancy. Arrivé à Paris en 1953, il a commencé à exercer l'obstétrique à l'Hôpital Foch de Suresnes, où il a été l'un des trois Français à introduire l'accouchement sans douleur. Toute sa carrière, il s'est intéressé à la naissance et au nouveau-né. Dans les années 1950, il a été l'un des premiers à signaler que le nouveau-né ressentait la douleur, et à militer pour l'accueil des nouveau-nés. A la fin des années 1950, il a créé le Centre Étienne Marcel, à Paris, dont il a été le directeur médical. Il a exploré de nombreuses méthodes d'accouchement, notamment l'haptonomie, qu'il a contribué à développer en France. Créateur du Groupe de recherches et d'études du nouveau-né (GRENN), il a publié de nombreux ouvrages. Le 6 janvier 1979, il a créé à Paris la première « Maison verte », concept qu'il s'est ensuite efforcé de généraliser en France.
