Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now

L'ACORN, pour Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, est une association américaine de solidarité, de défense et d'aide envers les personnes et les familles en situation de précarité. Elle a été active de 1970 à 2010, année de sa dissolution. Ses activités sont diverses, allant de l'aide à l'accès aux soins de santé, au logement, l'inscription sur les listes électorales, et toute activité à caractère social envers les plus démunis, la liste n'étant pas exhaustive. L'ACORN s'est illustrée lors de la crise immobilière de la fin des années 2000, dite des subprimes, en lançant une campagne pour empêcher les banques de saisir les familles en voie d'être expulsées[1].

Elle a compté jusqu'à 400 000 membres, et 1 200 associations de quartier réparties dans plus de 100 villes américaines, mais également en Argentine, au Canada, au Mexique et au Pérou. L'association a été fondée en 1970 par Wade Rathke et Gary Delgado.
