La Flat Earth Society (aussi appelé International Flat Earth Society ou International Flat Earth Research Society) est une organisation soutenant la théorie de la Terre plate, fondée en 1956 par l'anglais Samuel Shenton puis dirigé ensuite par l'américain Charles K. Johnson, décédé en 2001. Son actuel dirigeant est Daniel Shenton (depuis 2004). Son siège fut basé à Lancaster en Californie.
Aujourd'hui
En Novembre 2010, un forum de discussion sur Internet existe[1]. Le Flat Earth Society est également représenté sur Twitter[2] et Facebook[3]. En 2009, la Flat Earth Society a été reformée et avait 60 membres en Mars 2010.
Les promoteurs actuels de la Flat Earth Society n'ont pas une théorie alternative centrale. Certains préconisent l'idée que la Terre est tout à fait plate, tandis que d'autres préconisent une forme de disque.
Daniel Shenton a ressuscité la Flat Earth Society. Dans un article paru dans The Guardian, Shenton affirme avoir recruté 60 membres.
