Virgil Finlay (23 juillet 1914-janvier 1971) est un illustrateur américain de magazine de science-fiction, de fantasy et d'horreur.
Il commence à publier ses dessins dans Weird Tales en 1935. Son style réaliste et son utilisation des textures le font tout de suite remarquer. En 1938 il travaille avec l'équipe de The American Weekly sous la direction d'Abraham Merritt. Après avoir servi pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il dessine pour de nombreux pulps, magazines de science-fiction et magazines d'astrologie. Il meurt juste avant la première publication de la collection de ses œuvres.
