Un twinset ou twin-set (de l'anglais twin : jumeau et set : ensemble) est un ensemble coordonné constitué d'un cardigan et d'un pull-over qui serait apparu dans les années 1940. Grace Kelly et Marilyn Monroe font partie des femmes célèbres ayant porté des twinsets.
Description
Le twinset classique est tricoté en laine ou en cachemire. Le pull-over est habituellement porté près du corps et le cardigan déboutonné et l'ensemble est parfois accompagné d'un collier de perles.
Le Twin Set concerne aussi une veste courte avec un haut, en Viscone à 95% et polyester 5%.
Au cinéma le twinset est souvent utilisé pour donner une indication sur le caractère du personnage. Dans son utilisation moderne, il indique le conservatisme.
